The Trap God has returned. Gucci Mane brings us his 9th major label LP Everybody Looking. Guwop set the standard of this release when he dropped the first single off the album “First day out DA feds.” This track, just like a multitude of records off this album, is produced by famed Atlanta super producers Mike WiLL Made-it and Zaytoven. It took Guwop only a week to fine tune the schematics of Everybody’s Looking. Though the LP itself feels so robust.

Stream #GuwopHome on @Spotify now: https://t.co/WN2EwlETB4 pic.twitter.com/vTybRdeUeV

— Gucci Mane (@gucci1017) July 13, 2016

The intro track “No Sleep” is an epic beginning. The Trap God goes straight to the point with a hook and a set of verses that set the tone for the rest of the LP. In “No Sleep” Gucci details his past vices and how he has overcome then. Even though Guwop is a recovering drug addict, doesn’t mean that he has lost that trap mentality that made Gucci Mane a household name.

This album is a perfect comeback project. All of the records on Everbody Looking are quality additions to Gucci’s extensive catalog . The tracks “Waybach” and “Gucci Please” have that classic Guwop feel to them. While the Kanye West featured “P*ssy Print,” and the … produced banger “Pop Music” is a more modern representation of what trap music sounds like in 2016.

Everybody Looking is a victory lap for Gucci. The Trap lord flaunts through the whole album. On the track “Back on Road” he enlists rap superstar Drake to announce his return to the industry. Then Wop brags about how he’s the best A&R in the business on the single “All My Children“. This record signifies that Gucci is transitioning from being in the trap star of the rap game to an OG paving the way for all his “kids.”

Another highlight on this project has to be the track ” At Least An M.” From the slick Zaytoven production to Gucci’s hypnotic hook, “At least an M” is an instant classic for Guwop. I expect clubs in downtown Atlanta to be playing this record at night for years to come. In this track, Gucci talks of about his code of only hanging out with associates that have, you guessed it, at least an M.

If there ever was a need for a redemption story in the hip hop industry, then this was it. Gucci Mane went to prison two years ago and changed his outlook on life. In a way, I think guwop knew that with all the free Gucci hype that had been brewing during his time while incarcerated that everyone would be watching his next move. Hence the album title.

The only question was how would Gucci respond to his surroundings. Would he turn down the same road that would ultimately put Guwop back in jail or six feet under? Instead, Gucci decided clear his mind and bring us some of the best work of his career. All while rumors were swirling that Gucci’s label, Atlantic, was planning to drop him. But just like Gucci says in why would they do that. Guwop is a legend who originality will continue to influence the trap sound as long as he pleases.

Long live Guwop.

Jeezy is back. It would appear that it’s still for the Snowman to take over the Summer and, judging by his newest record, he has more than a few things to get off his chest. “Me Ok,” produced by Drumma Boy, finds Jizzle taking aim at Def Jam for making him sit on the shelf for so long. “I know you heard how your boy bossed up at Atlantic / Boss shit, might drop my next album on Atlantic,” he raps. Listen to the cut below.

The visual for Childish Gambino‘s “Sweatpants” as well as a Deep Web Tour blog were released yesterday. However, the artist was not pleased the final versions of either project. As a result, Gambino is now at wit’s end with his label, Glassnote. He tweeted that the video and blog “wasn’t handled correctly” and that the label has reneged on many promises over the course of his tenure with the label.

The former Community star went on to say he is “done” with Glassnote and that he wants labels such as Def Jam and Atlantic to buy him out of his current contract. A lot of labels began to show interest in Gambino following the first week sales of Because the Internet. Although he is not a huge fan of record labels, he states that he refuses to have “another project go through this.” Check out the series of tweets below.
