California is a big state. If you ask many outside of the smoky confines of this coastal piece of land, they might just not know how big. For example, a lot of people have no clue that it takes a significantly less amount of time to drive to Las Vegas from L.A. than it is to drive to the Bay Area from Los Angeles. With that kind of ground being covered, it’s easy to see how some regions can become cliqued up and exclusive and others can seem nonexistent.

To the naked eye, the Inland Empire suburbs of Southern California might seem like the furthest thing from a Hip-Hop haven, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. After breaking through with contributions from native Hit-Boy and his HS87 crew – which includes the enigmatic duo, Audio Push – the flood gates have opened and now kids from the IE are starting to get their due respect. Looking to be next up on the totem pole is a silky smooth crooner from Riverside named Adrian Gamboa and if his newest single, “You Pt. II” is of any indication, he might just create his own wave. Meshing a tale of heartbreak with a catchy hook and conventional songwriting, Gamboa seems to have cracked the code on how to formulate a hit.
