On 5/18, the day that represents his area code, Upstate New York recording artist DJLeach dropped “My Year,” an upbeat, uplifting track about his hard work and personal investments. When DJLeach raps “I don’t even get to sleep, but you could argue that I do because I’m working on my dreams,” it is easy to see why he is so confident in his hustle.

Given how stressful 2020 has been for so many people, DJLeach felt this song provided an interesting contrast. It was the perfect time to drop a single too. Last month, DJLeach appeared on the smoker’s anthem “420” with Afroman. The song, which also features Yung Fate and Jake Strain, is nearing 50,000 streams on Spotify in the few short weeks since its release on April 20th.

Although he was planning to hold on to “My Year” a while longer, DJLeach knew the success of “420” was a wave worth riding. When asked about his inspiration, DJLeach said “I do it for the fans, but the haters are the motivation.” No matter how you feel about his music, DJLeach is in hip-hop for the long haul.

As for what’s next, DJLeach says that he was 75% finished with his album, ‘On My Arm’ before the start of the quarantine and that he will be finishing as soon as the studio opens up again. The full-length LP is set to boast 20 collaborative tracks and that the featured artists, who include Chase Papers, Ricky Bandana and Ace Hardy, are all extremely proud of their contributions.

After one (partial) listen I can gladly continue my AP campaign with a clear conscience knowing that the two rhymers from Inland Empire, CA are the truth. The 14-cut project has the feel of a full-length album with no throwaways. While features from artists like G-Eazy, OG Maco, Isaiah Rashad, Fat Trel, etc. add texture to the tape, the music’s depth, creativity, and vision surpass expectations exclusively on the shoulders of Oktane and Price. From the “Ask Me” opening to the “Take Care” closing, TGVT is a collection that denotes peace, love, and positivity. Oh – and not to mention an array of bars and rhyme schemes that only further validate my supportive campaign. Now go download “The Good Vibe Tribe” and enjoy the rest of your herbal holiday.

In celebration of the best holiday ever, Mac Miller drops the official 4/20 mixtape entitled S.H.O.W.TIME. The acronym stands for Super High Off Wax Time. Mac taps into his production persona Larry Fisherman for this one, and collaborated with Ab-Soul, Freddie Gibbs, Hodgy Beats, Smoke DZA, and many more. The 18-track tape is the perfect music for you to enjoy during a smoke induced stupor. A few standout tracks from the tape are “Boat Races” which features Boldy James and Freddie Gibbs, as well as “Money Team” featuring Ab-Soul, Smoke DZA, and Da$h. Listen to both tracks below, and download the full mixtape here.
