While Asaad‘s making waves as a new Philly emcee, he’s also held down the style game. His music often refers to some choice brands, his “Respect Fresh” track even inspired this very column, but it’s more about the nearly all black everything aesthetic that he employs. Jay-Z might’ve invented the all black swag, but it’s Asaad who’s added the leather pants. According to Asaad, he’s not really into brands, but his fashionable friends helped push his attention towards more high-end designers. Before mentioning Louis Vuitton on record, he was a connoisseur of Bape, stunting out in full zip hoodies. During his recent trip to New York, we got to talk about his growing taste in fashion.
Black on black on black
I wear all black, all the time. I don’t like mixing colors and shit like that. I just want to be simple. I just put them on and not really think too much about it. I like En Noir, I’ll say that’s my personal favorite. These shorts are my personal favorite piece. I wear these everyday. They have the leather and the nylon interior.
Favorite accessories
The only accessories I wear are these two bracelets I just got from traveling. I normally wear a lot more, but I’ll give it away to a fan or some shit. I got this Mexican bracelet and this African bracelet.
Leather and Hood Glam
Rob G is a great designer. I have a great relationship with him. I love the lambskin leather. I love the leathers. They have leather t-shirts and shit. I’m all about the hood glam shit. Showing people you can come from the fucking hood, and still rock leather shorts and people will still fuck with you. If you keep it real with em’, they know what it is.
Definition of Style
Style is one of those things you have or you don’t have. I think that’s the easiest way to define it If you know then you know.
