Stones Throw Records has been running a J Dilla video tribute contest for a few months now, ending July 1st, and it has yielded something really weird in this accompaniment for “Last Donut of the Night”. A gem off Donuts, one of the greatest instrumental albums of all time, the track deserves a listen even if you aren’t feeling the weird Scandinavian vibe.
And for those desperate for more ways to pay tribute to the late, great James Yancey, try not to miss next month’s “6th Annual J Dilla Tribute and Fundraiser” at the 9:30 Club in D.C. Dilla’s music touched many of the great MCs of his generation–and they always show up to pay respects.
