Every year, Hot97 host Peter Rosenberg throws himself a big ol’ birthday bash, and this year’s was the biggest, featuring three of the biggest stars of the genre, two of which have claim to two of the year’s most noteworthy albums. After opening performances from Chris Rivers (son of the late Big Pun) and Retch, and a sort of in-between performance from Joell Ortiz, the first true headliner was Danny Brown, turning up the energy with some of his more wild, twisted songs (here, you see “Dip.”) Next up is Action Bronson, who you can peep back stage intimidatingly asking Rosenberg what’s inside the ravioli he just gave him. “I want to say happy birthday to this piece of shit. This man is amazing,” Bronson says. The night ends with ScHoolboy Q running through some of his more hype songs of the last two albums–“Hands On The Wheel,” “Break The Bank,” and “Man Of The Year.”
