No disrespect to Theophilus Martins–he raps well here, with some wordplay, has some passion in his voice, (and for the record, sounds eerily like a mix of Fashawn and Danny!) but he’s just no match for how goddamn good this Thelonious Martin beat is. The Chitown prodigy somehow warps this soul vocal sample into sounding like a version of a choir that walks the line between bombastic and soothing. This beat is masterful.
