“Show is packed like a Sunday morning at the laundromat,” raps frontman Dyme-A-Duzin on the latest EP from Phony Ppl. Well, he sure isn’t lying. SOB’s was filled on Tuesday Night– the majority of the fans being teenage girls– as Phony Ppl headlined the venue for the first time. The nine-piece ensemble took to the stage with not just microphones, but a saxophone, synthesizer, guitars, and drumset. Nothing but good vibes and positive energy pulsated throughout SOB’s as they performed fan favorites all across their catalog from WTF is Phonyland?, Phonyland, and their newest EP Nothing Special. The combination of live instrumentation mixed with smooth vocalists made for a terrific performance from the young band. Their energy was undeniable all evening and you could tell they were out there having fun the whole time. The Ppl made sure the crowd felt good with them as well, at one point bringing a group of girls from the front row on stage to dance along. Then later, ending the night with the rambunctious “IDELY” – the whole group mobbing on stage and then hopping into the crowd to go crazy with their fans. SOB’s transformed into Phonyland for a bit and an evening of swank was enjoyed by all.
