Global sports company, PUMA has signed a long-term partnership with Brazilian football star, Neymar Jr.
As one of the most successful athletes of his generation, Neymar Jr. will wear PUMA’s legendary King football boot on the pitch. He will also be a brand ambassador off-pitch, wearing PUMA’s most important lifestyle, training, and sport-inspired footwear and apparel products.
This news comes as a shock considering Neymar has been signed with Nike for the past 15 years and is one of, if not the, most popular sports star in the world. In speaking about the switch, Neymar stated,
“I am about to live a unique experience, a new challenge. I consider myself privileged to have had a life filled with unique experiences and wonderful challenges.
I grew up watching videos of great football legends such as Pelé, Cruyff, Eusebio and Maradona…. These were the kings of the pitch, the kings of my sport. And they had something in common—a love of the game, a drive to be the best version of themselves, and a spirit that unites all”

“New challenges, new responsibilities, I understand that.
I wish to bring back the legacy that those athletes created on the pitch. I want to help bring back moments from each of their football histories and the magic they gave us in their classic leather boots – and through boots like those, leave behind my own legacy. They each played in PUMA, and each of them created their magic in The KING.”
Having a super star such as Neymar Jr. will certainly bolster PUMA’s roster as they recently added future NBA draft pick LaMelo Ball to their team as well. Ultimately, time will tell, but PUMA is certainly positioning themselves to be leaders in the sportswear world moving forward.
