Ryan Shakes (@itsryanshakes) is a popular media personality with almost a quarter-million followers on Instagram. In our recent interview, we talked about his come up and new brand amongst other things. Check it out below.
What exactly do you do for a career?
I am a social media personality and entrepreneur, founder of ShakeyFam. I enjoy creating video content for millions of people and it’s a passion of mine.
What was the process for you to find what you wanted to do?
I was nine years old when it all started, running around the house recording myself. I was just so fascinated by the fact that I can record something of myself in the present time and go back and watch that same thing. It was astonishing to me.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Being able to connect with my fans I would say. And people who support me and what I do, it’s a lot of fun and really cool when somebody comes up to me from the street and asks to take a picture with me. It’s one of the best feelings in the world seeing how happy they are.
Can you tell us about your hustle?
Yes, so ShakeyFam I had started not too long ago and we pretty much sell general consumer merchandise like hoodies, T-shirts, sweatpants. And other things too like ShakeyPods which are these fire dope Bluetooth earphones we have. You might be wondering how we came up with the name. ShakeyFamis the beginning of my last name which is “Shakes” so I decided to put “Shakey” there and “Fam” which is short for family. The company’s deeper meaning is that anybody no matter who it is will not take a loss. We will always be striving to the top and not let one drawback keep up behind but yet we will take the “W” which is the win! We Don’t Take L’s.
What do you want your audience to know?
That no matter what you do keep your head up and focus on your goals, don’t worry about what the other man is doing.
What is your greatest success so far?
My greatest success so far was probably starting my first online business and scaling it up from 0-$100,000 in less than a month.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in many places, my parents got divorced when I was young and from their starting moving place to place a lot as well as going to different schools and counties around Florida.
What are some of the challenges you faced along the way?
Some of the challenges I faced along the way were not getting that proper support and encouragement growing up in my family into where I was trying to head as far as my goals went and what I wanted. It was always the “go to school” “go to school” route that I knew I never was going to need.
What does it take to be a successful entrepreneur?
What it takes is a lot, a lot of focus and self-discipline as well as tuning out the noise of the naysayers or the people who don’t believe where you are heading is possible.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
In the next five years I see myself being more successful in this world and along the journey and becoming my strongest version, and continuing to inspire millions of millions of people to strive to the top of their dreams and don’t give up on one “L” but to continue to get to that “W” We Don’t Take L’s.
What advice you would give to a young entrepreneur?
Some advice I would give to a young entrepreneur literally just goes all-in into what you believe you can do. If you believe that you can do all things, then chances are you can! The ones that are craziest enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration, I’m not entirely sure I have many people that came along in my life that have helped me and inspire me and kept pushing me through my goals so shoutout to all of them.
