Emerging artist Obasi Jackson just dropped his latest record. At first look, his new song “Work” is seemingly a Pop Smoke Tribute video. There’s nothing wrong with that, Pop deserves all the flowers. Once you keep head nodding to the beat and soak in the flow, you start to notice that Obasi Jackson is Pop Smoke’s real blood brother. It’s only fitting his brother, who has been Obasi’s #1 supporter, fo a proper tribute to the Brooklyn Crown Prince.
If you keep peeling this onion away, you can see that Obasi is really a dope artist. “Work,” clearly a song now dedicated to Pop Smoke, does have its own melodic flow and easy vibe to keep your mind focused on “work” during these pandemic race riot days. Obasi has been doing this for a while and you can hear his growth from his first release Emotion Kid. Now, Obasi has found his stride and he looks to put the swag of all of Pop Smoke and take his own music to even bigger heights, with all of BK holding him down, Obasi is making his own name.
