Phresh Rich is a Memphis native and more than just the newest rapper for Memphis, Tenn. He represents the soul of the youth with his melodic and catchy hooks that immediately attach and attack your vibes.
Rich was born and raised in a one small bedroom apartment in Memphis, Tenn. Growing up poor he was always taught the importance of first impressions.
RESPECT.: Whats life like in Memphis, how did it make you who you are?
Phresh Rich: Life in Memphis, it is rough. It’s like it’s kill or be killed and only the strong survive. Growing up in that mentality made me who I am, I’m built for anything.
RESPECT.: Who are your musical influences?
Phresh Rich: My musical influences are Yo Gotti of course. He comes from my city, just seeing him while I was young take over the city and show so much love the city has for him made me want to rap.
RESPECT.: How did you first discover hip-hop?
Phresh Rich: I first discovered hip-hop was probably around 2 my momma said I use to try to rap the words and dance to every song.
RESPECT.: How did you get your name in the game?
Phresh Rich: I got my name because I everybody use to call me rich like forever my momma use to say my son gone be rich because he love money and i got older and people be saying i was fresh so i decide to combine the name and do it with a PH because I’m different.
RESPECT.: What’s the history of music in Memphis?
Phresh Rich: The history of Memphis music is legendary Project Pat , 8ball & MJG , Skinny Pimp, Playa Fly, 3 6 Mafia, Juicy J, Yo Gotti, Young Dolph, and Gangsta Boo.
RESPECT.: What do you plan on contributing to the city history?
Phresh Rich: Good music and positivity I wanna help as many Memphis artist make it out after I make it out I wanna make us come together as a city.
RESPECT.: You just released a new single “She Bad” how is that single growing?
Phresh Rich: My new single “She Bad” is going crazy all through the city girls dancing to it every where they play it in the clubs I love when I hear it drop in the club in Love.
RESPECT.: Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? (Producers/artists)
Phresh Rich: I wanna collaborate with Yo Gotti, Future, or Beyoncé them my goals.
RESPECT.: What’s next for you in the next half of 2020?
Phresh Rich: Coming out the quarantine swinging I gotta make the world feel me.
RESPECT.: What does RESPECT. mean to you?
Phresh Rich: RESPECT. to me means you earned it and worked hard for it. When you have respect you the man. I gotta make them respect me.
