Teamwork is very important for these two as they have been seen collaborating with famous influencers and celebrities since their brand started way back in 2012. The masterminds behind Ordnry, actually came from three guys who started it when they were just 22, turning 23. They all live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of the prairie provinces. Winnipeg is very small with a population of around 762,700 people. With that being said, some may wonder why anyone would choose to start a brand in such a small place, well they saw the gap in the industry and decided to take it into their own hands. They all knew what it would take to make it to the top. Their names are Nick Welch, Adrian Kinnavanthong, and Jon Blumberg. They were smart and dedicated and got their design inspiration from their love of music and sports. You will feel the energy in the way that they decorate their store and treat their customers and this really differentiates them from their competition.
They started off working normal 9-5 jobs. Jon was a realtor, Nick had his own business in massage therapy that later proved to work to his advantage when it came to his new business and Adrian was a chef and later got into construction so that he could use those skills to his advantage and be able to take on projects that would help his company down the road.
Their love of sports has come with many amazing opportunities such as befriending Kelly Olynyk (nba) who is a player for the Miami Heat of the NBA. They were all invited to his house at one point and when they got there, they all played NBA on his Playstation as his character which is extremely cool. They also organized a pop-up shop with Labron James’ business partner Jaron that was supposed to go on for a week, but they ended up selling out on their first day and had to order a bunch more clothing in and ended up just staying for an entire month to get more chances to spend time with their newly found friends.
This job has allowed them to fly all over the world to meet many celebrities and attend many private events such as Madonna’s (recording artist) Grammy party, her birthday party, and Nick even went to her recording studio with Lil Buck (dancer) while she was working on an album. When he told her that they were from Winnipeg, she replied with “Oh, you’re from Winnipeg sorry to hear that” and they all had a good laugh. All of the connections that have been made through the brand and the meaning behind it are still lasting to this day and they are working hard and building new connections with artists, musicians, athletes, designers and dancers from around the world but of course they couldn’t have done it without the help from their amazing supporters. This is why they say that experience and clothing is secondary.
None of them wanted to follow in their parents’ footsteps, they each wanted to create their own future from scratch. This would mean coming up with an idea and foolproofing it and bringing it to reality.
This amazing team really did make something amazing from nothing and are proud to be one of the most notable clothing brands in Canada. They want to thank all of their fans and supporters for cheering them on throughout the last eight years.
