How have some of Music’s biggest executives been handling the business side of entertainment while most of the country is still on lockdown? We’ve seen the exciting charting rise of Live Stream concerts and Instagram Live sessions between some unlikely pairs. While this hype has mostly leveled out, one might wonder, how is the Music Business still turning its gears while no one is allowed to be in offices still?
One unique duo has found a way to continue churning through deals that would normally be finalized and inked in big record company offices. You probably know Super Producer Bighead for his creation of the record “Gucci Gang” a 5X Platinum hit that defined the change in the Hip Hop Genre as the Soundcloud era brought a wave of new artists and styles. With over 1 Billion views on YouTube, Bighead created a notorious sound but also created a foundation for his brand as other major artists flocked to him for development of their own hit records. The likes of Lil Peep, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Tracy, Gucci Mane, French Montana, Bad Bunny, Chief Keef, Bobby Shmurda, Soulja Boy and more have all found their way onto Bighead’s records. In a prime time for a developing producer with a couple fresh years of hit records on his back, a pandemic that could keep artists out of studios and away from producers and make deals difficult is a fear anyone might have that could stifle their progression. Interestingly enough, rather than the lockdowns hindering Bighead, he and his manager actually found a way to make light of the situation and close deals and push forward creatively using virtual tools and live streaming.
There was no way to get the deal signed in person. However instead of this becoming another negative item added to the list of other things lost in the lockdowns, creatively, Bighead and Alex Loyalty found a way to execute the signing that even included his fans. They performed the first ever deal signing on Instagram Live from Corona Virus Lockdown. Bringing in Sony’s VP to oversee the signing, this unique approach and adaptation was both effective and interesting. With Instagram Live Concerts, Paired discussions with the most random of influencers, signings have now been added to the way labels and executives might make announcements while still on lockdown, and maybe even going forward all together.
Stay connected with Bighead here.
