RESPECT.: Define RESPECT.
Respect is something that is earned that is defined by your actions and ethics. A trait we all desire from one person to another.
RESPECT.: With your new single, “Reckless,” describe to us what that will entail.
This song is just something fun I thought I’d put out. I’d been recently listening to a lot of The Weeknd, which undoubtedly inspired this song.
RESPECT.: I had seen you had released your recent single, “BAD AS YOU ARE,” define that for us.
This was actually a record where I tried to push my limits as far as singing goes. I actually produced the track myself & recorded it in my living room, which I do with most of my songs. I wanted something that could really resonate with the ladies, but also create a tune that was suited for the summer.
RESPECT.: I had seen you had put your music on Triller, did you want to set a trend with that? Like the other artists who are doing it.
Haha, with that I was just trying out something different. Definitely had some fun and to my surprising, it didn’t do to bad. I think it is a great tool for artist to showcase their music in a fun and more personal way with their following.
RESPECT.: You have released just singles for a while, will we get a new project soon? What will be the name of the project?
I definitely want to release something by the end of this summer. I have this unusual pattern of releasing big projects right around that time of the year. My focus right now though is the direction I want to take with my next big project in terms of more rapping and or singing. I am definitely leaning towards really showcasing my rapping capabilities on this one though!
RESPECT.: With the artists, who are from Toronto, like Drake or Tory Lanez, do you see a transition of music?
I see a major transition in music. I feel like Toronto right now is super hot, and everybody is inspired by everybody. Nowadays, every producer and artist has their own studio setup it’s great. I am super lucky to have people like Drake, The Weeknd, Lanez and all the major cats hold the spotlight for new artist like us to shine.
RESPECT.: What can you say is your sound since you touch so many genres? Explain.
Probably the hardest question of all. I would say I am a rapper at heart but got a huge desire for melodies. We are in an era where people gravitate to melodies, it’s definitely an added bonus if you can deliver a deep message behind a melodic cadence. I definitely strive to achieve this. Some of the people I’ve mentioned before execute this perfectly is artists like Drake and The Weeknd.
