Austin Texas upstart, by way of Temple, Dedrick has cultivated his sound over the years. Finally finding a balance between melodic and lyrical, he made his return to music in 2019 – after going on hiatus in 2015. In between the birth of his daughter, bouncing between jobs and enrolling into college, Dedrick decided he would redirect his energy into music.
As most of the world is in quarantine, Dedrick looks to fill our time spent at home with fresh sounds. To kickstart Spring 2020, the Austin artist releases, “Distant.”
“You say we need to talk more but the phone works both ways.”
Distant tells the story of two lost lovers. Initially physically, then slowly progresses to emotionally. Communication and comprehension plays a big role as the lead struggles to understand the needs of his woman. The listener is thrust on an emotional roller coaster as the drama ensues.
