In his famous play ‘As You Like,’ William Shakespeare alludes, “Sweet are the uses of adversity which, like the toad, ugly and venomous, wears yet a precious jewel in his head.” Norman Towns seems to agree with this affirmation. He is a dedicated television and film actor who is using his talents to inspire resilience amid the hard times and struggles that define our current existence. However, his rise to stardom has not been entirely perfect. He recently shared his story about how he dealt with all forms of adversity.
Norman Towns is a humble and funny stand up comedian turned actor. He often uses his real name in acting roles, prompting people to question his identity. Norman believes that his engagement in the entertainment realm should be grounded on the truth, and this is his professional philosophy. But how did he rise to stardom?
The Beginning
“I made a skit with my little brothers when I was about 14 and had such an amazing time doing it. I would shoot with them every weekend growing up”, he said. Interestingly his family never really supported his quest to become a full-time actor and pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Instead of giving up, he strived to fulfill his dreams with even more persistence!
Norman Towns did stand-up comedy for four years before taking up his first role as an actor. He affirms that he received lots of criticism regarding his work approach. “I love the psychology of acting and love digging deep into any character I am portraying and try my best to give life to any character I become”. Unlike most actors, he prefers to bring out the real persona that he is representing accurately. This is his way of expressing his personality and intricate themes of a movie or play. Norman believes that he does not need to land on top of the mountain; instead, it is essential to be consistent. The best way to avert such negativity is to keep on practicing and becoming better at his craft.
Determination
Norman’s determination has landed him big-time roles, often finding himself working alongside prominent Hollywood actors. He was seen in films like The Gambler with Mark Wahlberg and The Affair with Emily Browning, and will be featured in the 4th season of HBO’s Insecure. He’s already in talks with several productions for starring roles in big-budget blockbuster movies. One of his goals is to win an academy award in the near future. Norman Towns simply loves working and creating content.
It is not easy to deal with adversity. However, Norman Towns proves to us that persistence, constant practice and a sincere passion can be used to counter any life difficulty. Norman simply wants to empower others with the same zeal through his art and philosophies.
