New York-based personal shopper and fashion influencer, Rachel Choy, advises hiring a personal shopper to wear one’s worth. She believes that more people should work with personal shoppers/digital stylists instead of just sitting at home or at work and shopping online.
Modern-day lifestyle warrants that people always bepresentable. Also, they should feel comfortable in theirwardrobe. The number of occasions where one needs to be attractive and on-their-game has increased over the years. Be it formal or informal gatherings, you must prove your worth.
This is where the role of a personal shopper comes into the picture because they can take a huge burden off your shoulders by helping you save a lot of time and energy. “I love working with people, and I love fashion. I love having more hands-on experience with people and helping them with their styles and fashion sense,” Choy says, as she describes her mission.
In the cosmopolitan lifestyle, it is very easy to find a personal shopper. Just walk into any high-end store, and the chances are that they can make one available to you. The drill is simple. You briefly explain your requirements and thoughts, and let the stylists take it from there. Since these businessesare professional and have more exposure to the latest fashion and trends, they can guide you to the best styles; the ones that suit you. Create rapport with the professional, and then you can upgrade yourself and your fashion quotient. However, it is essential to find a shopper who understands your life and your clothing style.
“Personal shoppers can help eliminate the anxiety of wondering what to wear to that important meeting, that big event, or a crucial job interview. Stylists make life a little bit easier because they have access to more brands and fits, and they can find the right pieces that work for their clients,” says Rachel. “We take the guesswork out of what to wear, which saves you time and money.”
“Personal shoppers have a better knowledge of the brand names, designs, and styles that are trending. Instead of constantly having to go back to stores to return and exchangeitems, you hit a home run on your very first session. You will be wearing better fitting clothing and spend more time doing other things you enjoy while interacting with more people,” Rachel says.
Born in Hong Kong, Rachel, mother of two girls, currently resides in New York where she earned a Bachelor’s Degreefrom the Fashion Institute of Technology and is currently personal shopper at Neiman Marcus. She has been Department Manager at Nordstrom, Floor Director at Bloomingdales, Manager at Saks Fifth Avenue, Salon Shoes Sales Representative, and Personal Shopper at Barneys.
She assures us that hiring a personal shopper is not expensive. “These professionals can work with you to improve your personality and keep things within your budget,” she says. “Whatever the occasion – a family function, an interview, meeting a client – your comfortable and fashionable outfit will always give you an edge. A personal shopper is indeed a facilitator to this.”
“No matter what your needs are, there is a personal shopper that fits your lifestyle and budget,” she adds.
Rachel makes her fashion expertise available on Instagram, where she shares her love of fashion, food, travel, and the finer things in life with her over-200K followers. Hence, the digital option is also open.
