On the final day of Black History month, AYO SK3TCH found himself in an unexpected place: in the center of a heated, controversial debate between hundreds of angry fans on social media; we finally get his response in his new video “#FREESK3TCH.”
With a leaked video, which former Vine star and Vlog Squad member BigNik called, AYO SK3TCH a series of racial slurs, including stating that it was a problem for AYO SK3TCH to be “yapping around” because of his ethnicity. BigNik acknowledged on the original social media post that he did in fact use the racially charged slurs, but was unapologetic and believed he was justified in doing so.
AYO SK3TCH has stated that he has no further comment on the issue other than the response he dropped later that day, aptly titled “#FREESK3TCH“, which samples the original audio.
Produced by AceTheFace, the song takes on a West Coast flavor and marks a departure from the upbeat brand of music typically associated with AYO SK3TCH.
SK3TCH states that unlike BigNik, he is not motivated by “clout” to become a “culture vulture” who tries to portray himself as a real “Trapstar” online despite having “grown up real safe” and “never having to watch his back.”
