Have you ever wondered how precious your life is? We live in a fast-pacing world. Everyone is busy in sprinting. At one point, we are kids struggling to pass an exam, and the next realization comes at 50. However, there is someone who woke up a lot early.
An Anesthesiologist by profession, Doctor Jarrett’s life changed when he cheated death at an early age in his life. At the age of nine, he survived a plane crash, and that incident pushed him towards deeper thinking of life lessons, and it’simportance.
The fateful day was on December 20, 1995, where young Jarrett and his family were on vacation. The family’s spirit of fun and adventure later turned to be calamitous after a plane they boarded crashed at the JFK airport during a snow blizzard. Fortune enough, the entire family escaped unhurt during this mishap.
Indeed, it’s through our trials and tribulations that we realize how precious life is. Now when Doctor Jarrett is a successful professional, he recollects his memories, and shares few life lessons he learned from the incident:
Appreciate the value of life
Let’s pause for a moment and think, how many days do you think about life? How many decisions do you take without being influenced by others? Are you faking a side of your personality just to fit in and please the society? If you answer any of these in positive, stop for a moment and think.
Image your old-self sitting in a chair in balcony and wishing you were more thoughtful about your life choices. Remove not being happy as an option from your life. Doctor Jarrett states, ‘whatever is going to happen, will happen. But you can enjoy the part you control. Stop and appreciate the precious life you have.’
Get a healthy life before it’s too late
We all have a life schedule, when we get up, clean-up, get dressed, have half breakfast, and leave for office. Leading a healthy life is not as difficult as it seems. Setting milestones, visualizing success, and maintaining a healthy body and mind helped Doctor Jarrett to be more focused and achieve his ambitions later in life. He inspires people to be rejuvenated and find a purpose in life. Make a habit of planning for a complete meal, the way you plan taxes. Stop by at breakfast and appreciate the hands who prepared it, even if it is you.
Pay it Forward
Are you blessed with money, or maybe strength or time? Extend a helping hand to someone who doesn’t. Doctor Jarrett says, “Giving and helping others fill our mind with a sense of accomplishment, and I think everyone should feel this at least once a day.”
He promises to leave a legacy that involved helping others, catapulting his drive and focus. Help a homeless today or anyone who needs it—volunteer in medical emergencies. Share your knowledge to help someone grow. Whatever forms you can opt for, go for it. Appreciate and live your life fully and inspire others to do as well.
The Doctor’s catchphrase is, “give them your entire heart, and, however, never forget to have fun in the process.” He was inducted into the top 100 list of most influential eligible bachelors in 2018 by Business Insider due to his astounding ethics when it comes to putting others first. Doctor Jarrett is on a mission to inspire people every day
