Beaufort, South Carolina, is a modest-sized city, home to around 13,000 residents. However, this small-town American lifestyle is not the perfect pace for everyone. Hence the story of Sharod Brown (@carolinaspill), who could never quite find his groove growing up in. “Beaufort was so slow to me,” said Brown. He was able to find his place, however, when he went to Atlanta, Georgia, with his friend for a weekend, when his career in music began.
“When I got here, I had never felt so much at home. I knew immediately ‘I have to come back’.” This is exactly what Brown did a year later when he made his first attempt at the music industry. The attempt would not last long, as Brown found himself in and out of prison for minor charges, to which he still pleads his innocence today, and even writes about. “I have a new song I am working on called, Trial. It is basically about an old trial that I beat back in ‘04 with a public defender, not a paid lawyer.”
After working in the club scene of Atlanta doing promotion work, Sharod Brown is ready to step back into the spotlight as an artist once again. He is currently working on new music and perfecting his songwriting craft, which he says is the epicenter of his music. “I paint pictures with my music,” said Brown. After years of struggles, Brown has stories to tell, and the world should be excited to hear what the revamped newcomer has to say.
