As one of the major states Texas is known for it’s influence and holds a historical place in hip-hop. A lot of big movements in music came from those ends. Home to hip hop legends like Pimp C, DJ Screw, Scarface, Slim Thug Bun B & many more. As the streamline of history carries on, Texas continues to produce talented artist and Donny Blanco is one of them.
Donny Blanco’s latest project Steel Fang delivers a sleek, gritty, and stronger side of the Texas artist and it shows with him coming right out the gates with Huey Freeman. With a confident mind set to continue delivering goods this year, Donny Blanco kick starts with a 7-track project consisting of a long list of producers like Origami, Kan Kick, PyorOnDaBeat, Bliss, RSK and Chuck Inglish. Steel Fang is an eclectic mix of certifiably powerful music. With two features on the project from G. Seed and LVNGROOM, the project is a must-listen.
My thought process for this album was that I needed something raw. Something that’s poignant. It’s been a few years since I released new music so I had to make something memorable. During the months working on the album I had “Me Against The World” , “Fetti” , “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx” all on repeat.
His mix of classic rap tropes with odd-ball classics like the uptempo house-influenced “Dance” is enough proof that he’s got more than what it takes to have a seat at the rap table when the year is done.
Listen to project above and follow him on instagram for more music in 2020.
