Bucky Malone drops off his first visual effort of the decade, “White Runtz.” The video is filmed in VHS style by production company Sic Em. Moreover, Bucky provides a vintage feel that’s cohesive with the futuristic sound he consistently brings. It’s produced by frequent collaborator Lord Fubu who just dropped an joint project with OG Maco titled Maco Got that Flame.
“Still smoking weed ’cause it’s good for the vision / Yeah, breaking down green, yeah it’s good for nutrition,” he raps. Check out the video below.
What’s the story behind “White Runtz”?
Truthfully speaking I didn’t go into the studio with the intention to make a novelty ass song promoting Runtz “even though I kind-of did.” I just was high as hell and drunk on NYE vibing to a bunch of beats Lord Fubu had sent me. I sat in my car and literally wrote for hours and ended up with a 6-track EP finished and “White Runtz” to me seemed like the first single ready to be released from it. Lowkey, I went to the studio as soon as I woke up from staying up all night writing it so it was written and recorded all on New Years Eve.
How did you come up with the inspiration for it?
Well for all who don’t know and for the weed smokers out there it’s a very popular strain, and I kept getting my hands on it for like a month or so. I was smoking it so much that it became one of the main strains I was smoking on at the time so when I was writing the hook it just hit me because literally it felt like all we were smoking on was “White Runtz.”
What inspires your sound creatively?
Definitely whatever I’m going through in life at the moment. The darker the times are the more passionate I get because I work well under pressure and when it feels like “Its all or nothing”. But mainly just experiences, women, weed, and just nostalgic memories from my childhood.
Dropping music fresh off your album, what is the reason behind being extremely consistent?
It’s definitely just the time that we’re in now mainly. Not that i’m trying to keep up because when I first started rapping I would drop four tapes a year almost, but because everyone’s attention span is shorter. Even the stanza for a song these days are like hook, verse, then one more hook to finish it off so everything is a-lot more shorter and to the point. I started making shorter songs back in 2013 unconsciously and now that’s like the norm.
As far as music goes, what can we expect from you this year?
Definitely more visuals from my latest album, $tuck In My Ways, just because that’s a body of work i’m proud of and want to make sure it gets its just due with the public. I feel like going into new decade was big for me because I’ve officially been rapping longer then ten years so I want to hit the ground running. Flood the streets with new projects, y’all might get four bodies of work out of me before 2020 is finished.
Are there any artists or producers in particular that you’re working with?
Well me and Lord Fubu dropping a EP together which is gonna be insane! It’s called Ju$t Vibe and features this single as the lead single. I’m releasing that at the end of January on all platforms. As far as artists I’m not going to lie I keep operations close knit. I mainly work with artists who are really my homies in real life like Crown Marquiss, Seven Jackson & even Kelow Latesha who i’ve dropped several records with in the past but as far as any new artists no but i’m open if there shit is dope.
