Congratulations: you ended the decade with a bang. Most of Black America were in Ghana for the “Year of Return” in style. Now, 2020 has arrived and it’s time to kick those those new plans into high gear. When it comes to your fitness goals, I have chosen these fitness influencers to follow to keep you motivated or even train with in 2020.
I have had the opportunity to rub shoulders with some or most on this list, which includes Selena Watkins, Martese Gilliam, D”Annete Stevens, Timonthy Mcdougald, Akua Boakye, Marcus Thomas, Isoken Emokpae, Philippe Calvin Marc (In video above), Alisha Filmore, Kareem Hyman, Jen Marie, Obi Vincent. Every trainer is certified and has their own unique method to get you to the results you’re searching for.
- @selenawatkins Selena Watkins was the 2016 pick for Womenshealth Mag Next fitness star and hasn’t skipped a beat since. You can Catch her teaching her Caribbean inspired Socanomics class in Los Angles or in a city near you as she travels. If that doesn’t work you can kind her on the Tom Joyner cruise teaching her classes.
- @Martesse Martesse Gilliam – Martesse Gilliam is a Co-Founder and the Creative Director at BRWL. . Martesse is a certified yoga instructor through the Yoga Alliance, has 25+ years of martial arts training and is a certified martial arts instructor. His signature boxing and yoga class I’ve taken And is definitely one that will fit your cardio and functional health needs.
- @d.terminedfitnessllc D’Annette Stevens – An up and coming trainer and fitness model in the NYc area CEO D.TerminedFitness, ISSA Certified Trainer, NCSF Strength and Conditioning Coach, Precision Nutrition 1 Coach, Pre-Post Natal Coach, Weight-Loss. So for all you Moms who want to be team snap back after your pregnancy she is definitely a trainer to check out
- @true__spirit Tim is natural body builder whos Motto is “ Hard work and dedication is what I will continue to stick to” that consistency that will keep you motivated. He not a trainer but if you have a chance to check out his fitness Ig you clearly see we he is on the list of influencers.
- @bodybyakiafitness Akua decided in 2004 that she wanted to change her lifestyle habits and hired a trainer to get her into real shape. A decade and a half later she is providing affordable training that helps people become a healthier version of themselves. Her group training classes look challenging but what impresses me is that those people show up every week for more and is still growing!
- @metamorphosesfitness Marcus is a trainer who puts on for Brooklyn. You cant catch him @thegreengynbrooklyn or on a rooftop Garden enlightening others to why they should grow their own or Nutritional facts about the food he is growing. He and @directorofcalisthenics workouts are killer and definitely one of the reason why he made this list.
- @slay.iso I didn’t know much about Iskoen until last year when she had social media buzzing with her “Cakes by Iso” challenge that had quite a few of my lady friends going hard to in the gym getting those glutes in order for summer 2019. Whether its weight loss or weight gain or getting those gluts in order Iso has what you need. Stay tuned because she will be dropping her 12 week bulk program soon!
- @calvinflexnj Philippe Marc is an up coming Celebrity trainer and actor. He is one of host trainers of “Incredafit” popop bootcamps along with @iffbb_pro_creddy. someone to watch out for in 2020 weather it is on social media with his workouts or on the big screen.
- @Filmore_fit Alisha Flimore a former Division 1 Women’s basketball player at SMU. She has turned her passion on the court in passion in the gym. If she not training for a spartan race doing fitness modeling she making time for you whether it’s in person or online!
- @fit_reem Kareem Hyman is a trainer kills it in the gym with his heavy lifts. if you have ab goals look no further. He also will have on point with the natural meal plans because we all know abs are made in the kitchen
- @therealjenmarie Jen Marie might be the fitness follow for you if are a curvy queen who wants to lose the tummy but keep the curves. Jen put in the work in the gym to transform herself and is now putting in the work the help of others with her @stablebyjen products.
- @obi Obi Vincent is one of my favorite follows. I kinda consider him my trainer. When I get stagnant in my personal workout I often scroll to his page for inspiration. His workout are highly functional and very intense. He always give good information on what the workouts are doing and what the muscles group his workouts target. One of the true kings of Crossfit and definitely worth the follow
