RESPECT.: You connected with Thankyoufizzle for your single “Money Like Me”, what you are doing different that makes you the one?
TheRealTSpoon: I feel like just me being consistent, with quality high level music makes me the one. My story, the perspective that I’m presenting to the world about me and where I’m from.
RESPECT.: What’s the Oregon medicine like?
TheRealTSpoon: I mean I’m not a heavy smoker, but I’m a well traveled man and Oregon is top tier as far as Tree goes. I have had my hand in a grow op or two and I can say we are top two in the country for sure!
RESPECT.: What do you think about the West coast spotlight in the game, we know the Blazers are going off in r are we going to see a breakthrough with artists in the area too?
TheRealTSpoon: The spotlight is shining bright on the West right now in my opinion. A bunch of the poppin’ artist at the moment are from the West. I feel I’m making a lot of noise and progress towards breaking through with national notoriety. There are a lot of Portland artist doing their thang locally but only a few have made noise outside of our state and region. Shout out everyone on the grind but currently I just feel I’m going crazy with content that you can’t avoid.
RESPECT.: Who would you like to work with next year and build a relationship?
TheRealTSpoon: The main relationships I’m trying to build aren’t with artist I would say, but more with behind the scenes people. I want relationships with people that can help further my career, that I can learn from. I have worked with a bunch of artist, big and small. I would like to do some music with maybe Tec from Baton Rouge, Conway from Buffalo, or even Ohgessy from Shoreline Mafia. Those are a few people that I listen to and f**k with that I would like to make a slap with.
RESPECT.: What advice can you give to upcoming artist about the grind and overcoming the struggle?
TheRealTSpoon: Some advice I would give to up and coming artist about the grind and overcoming the struggle is to stay working and patient. I been in this for a while and I’m not where I want to be yet. I have spent countless hours, money and made huge sacrifices for this music shit. If this is what you really want to do then do it. It will take your all, believe dat!
RESPECT.: What do you have to contribute?
TheRealTSpoon: I have to contribute not only knowledge but knowledge from an untapped region/area. People don’t even think there are black folks in Portland lol, let alone one talking some street sh*t like me. So I bring reality rap from my section which hasn’t been done on a national level.
RESPECT.: Tell us about your upcoming project?
TheRealTSpoon: I have a few upcoming projects. I just dropped Vol. 2 of the Big Spoon series entirely produced by K.Fisha and District Yori from LA. Next I think I will drop the Sizzle EP which is entirely produced by ThankYouFizzle. Just waiting on a verse to be sent back then that’s a go. After that I have two to three more EP’s done! I’m a workaholic and going to keep my foot on they necks!
RESPECT.: What do you have planned for the remainder of the year in 2020?
TheRealTSpoon: on dropping more visuals and at least one more project before the year is up. Hopefully this can set me up to be a part of a tour in 2020, that’s the goal.
RESPECT.: What does RESPECT. mean to you?
TheRealTSpoon: Respect to me, means a high level of care and integrity. It’s also a form of admiration to great qualities as well.
