Brooklyn, New York is the home to many legendary creatives. As many know, New York is the capital of Hip Hop, where many artist are captivated by music at an early age.
Vinnies PM has been effortlessly representing his borough while making his distinctive mark. He recently shared his first project “Beyond The Strobes” that sets the bar. When listening to the tape it creates a soulful vibe that is timeless and inspiring. He uses music to encourage and push the culture in positive ways. He briefly discussed his unique process behind it.
“The title “Beyond The Strobes” to me always meant that this world is bigger than the idea of fame and fortune. Sure that’s what we all want but lets also cater to the bigger aspects of life besides those things such as family, friends and maintaining a healthy life physically, emotionally and mentally. I was inspired by my hood East Flatbush and Canarsie heavy. The mentalities that people possessed on both the good end and the bad end influenced me to make this project and It’ll always be the embodiment of every single piece I bring into the universe. My creative process is a very long process because I’m not a SUPER fast writer. Most people can create a whole song in seconds and that’s an amazing gift but me I love to take my time. I see every line or every bar as something you have to feel or just experience. So every line I want the listener to feel like they was there and I want them to know that we both are the same no matter our positions in life. I also tend to always listen to music completely outside of the hip hop realm. It allows me to listen to a whole different world giving me a lot more stuff to speak on because problems comes in all different shapes & sizes.”
Vinnie explains how and why he trust his gut instinct when it comes to his creative process, he also spoke on why he think millennial’s have the wrong concept of embracing each other.
“Even me being in Generation Z I can see that we misinterpret the true idea of success and embracing each other. I feel like media just plays a huge blame in it all. Everyone should have their own idea of success and their ways of embracing each other. Its like the american dream remains so fixed as we progress. I always trust my instinct. That inner feeling that you get when something isn’t right, I always listen to that. Negative Energy isn’t always an easy thing to detect but once you feel it relieve yourself from its aura. Being me always works and that goes for EVERYONE just PLEASE be yourself. One thing I’ll never be is somebody just to fit into someone’s preference because that doesn’t create authenticity especially with developing a bond.”
His transparent and substantial lyrics are heard and felt in his songs. Vinnie enjoys speaking to his listeners on every track by inspiring them and himself. This project has been creating a lot of noise since his release and he will be performing in New York on the following dates:
