Season 3 of Snowfall on FX might be the next thing that makes you go back and binge watch the previous season to get caught up on all the characters arcs. (Maybe it’s just me, but) I’ll admit that I didn’t invest much tome into the series before Monday night’s premiere, yet I left AMC 25 in New York with the sentiment that I’m definitely watching this show going forward.
The show stands as one of John Singleton‘s last projects before he passed on April 28th. The cast, which includes Damson Idris, Carter Hudson, Angela Lewis, Amin Joseph, Michael Hyatt and Isaiah John, as well as Writer Dave Andron) were all on hand for the New York premiere, which also featured a Q&A after the first episode screening.
I spoke with actor Isaiah John on the red carpet, which you can read below:
RESPECT.: What about season 3 is going to make people want to tune in?
Isaiah John: One, the story, it’s a true story about African-Americans, and as sad as it is, it’s one of John Singleton’s last projects, one of his last creative big bangs…people have to come out and support.
RESPECT.: Did he pass before or after you guys finished taping?
Isaiah: He passed before.
RESPECT.: How did that effect being on set?
Isaiah: It made everyone bond closer, I mean everyone on Snowfall is already a family, but it made everyone lean on each other more. Before he passed, John came up to me personally and told me he had seen 5 or 6 episodes of the show and how he was so proud. This project was like his baby and that fact that he got to see it makes me happy.
RESPECT.: Do you have any other projects out or in the works?
Isaiah: Yeah, I have a project with Joe Robert Cole, he was one of the writers from Black Panther. It’s a movie called All Day & Night on Netflix.
RESPECT.: Now that you have that connection, you have any aspirations to be in the next Black Panther movie?
Isaiah: Of course, I want to play (Spider-Man character) Miles Morales, a live action Miles Morales.
You can check out more of Isaiah John and the rest of the cast and crew of Snowfall July 10th on FX Networks.
