After some fairly cryptic advertising, London Grime and Rap legend Kano has officially announced his new album to be titled Hoodies All Summer, which will feature 10 new tracks and see appearances from Kojo Funds, Popcaan, Lil Silva, D Double E and Ghetts. The announcement was also accompanied by a powerful short visual for the track “Trouble,” which was directed by Aneil Karia and focuses on a tragic murder due to knife crime (a big problem in London right now) and its aftermath. The D Double E and Ghetts-assisted “Class of Deja” is also included as a second part to the emotionally-charged clip.
Kano explained the film to VICE:
“I wanted people to not be able to turn it off… It’s not at the end of the song, not at the beginning, it’s right in the middle, right as you were having fun — because every day, as you’re going through your life and having fun, this is what’s happening. It’s easy to turn away when it’s not you or not your kid, but there you go: it’s in your face right now. It’s sad, man.”
Check out “Trouble” and the tracklisting for Hoodies All Summer below; the album is set to make landfall August 30th (pre-order here). Also added: forthcoming UK tour dates this Fall in support of the album. This is Kano’s year now, indeed.
