Rhasoul’s latest project of the year, SZN is the “New Wave of New York Rap” in a major way.
This 35 minute smooth-transitioning album consists of 13 tracks. Each starting with a smooth melody with a aggressive trap beat that comes with no hesitation. In the first track “STATEMENT”, Rha speaks about being Independent and not signing to a Label like most Artists would look forward to doing in The Industry. Rha Also speaks about working night shifts on his music to get what he wants, which is a statement in itself.
“Im straight independent ain’t signed it.
You kids better get to the line kid,
Got the cream and the ice with the nice fit.
This came from all of the night shifts”
– Rhasoul, “STATEMENT”.
Rhasoul keeps this same energy throughout his album on songs like, “Big Pocketz” and “M.TYSON” which include other artists in his NY-Based Collective, Apex Mafia, Breeze Fiend, SonnyG, LD and, Atlanta-Based Rapper, Yung Bans. Rhasoul usually keeps a hip-hop/soul vibe throughout most of his music in the past but is presently steering his creativity to a New York Rap Wave we’ve never seen in any Upcoming NYC Artists This Year.
