The First Lady of Dreamville is someone who is special to us. She goes by Ari Lennox. Lennox’s first project, Pho that was released in 2016, set the tone for her as an artist. We wanted more from the “Backseat” singer, and we are getting that soon enough! Her sound is so pure yet it gives us a neo-soul vibes. As a DC native, she makes her sound so mellow yet so groovy. She recently performed at the first Dreamville Festival that was held at North Carolina, and we can say that she did such an impeccable job by providing the grooves.
Lennox keeps the momentum by announcing her first upcoming album, Shea Butter, along with a tour. She gave us a sneak peek, when she performed in Nashville, of what we will be seeing in the next coming months on tour. As she released her hit single with J. Cole called “Shea Butter Baby” this is what we needed. I can say that the album will be soulful yet centric with a pretty accent. She put the icing on the cake by releasing the single “Whipped Cream” as a summertime ballad that makes you want to enjoy hanging with your love.
I am happy for Ari because she is bringing soul back with her sensual voice and jazzy melodies with a twist of an edgy gogo beat. She puts her city on the map by experimenting with different sounds that always comes out right by how it naturally flows.
We can’t wait to see what the natural shea butter babe comes our way with new music!
