June marks the 10th anniversary of Twista’s acclaimed LP Category F5, but this week he dropped a new hit single “TONITE,” proving that his longevity as an artist is off the charts. In this volume-busting song Twista brings together the sounds of soul-filled Motown and the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson…we can’t help but put it on replay. But don’t be so quick to think this is a different sound than we are used to hearing from the platinum recording artist, because he has a history of adapting to current sonic trends while remaining true to his signature high octane lyrical delivery.
Also be sure to mark those calendars for his tour “Class of 96 ” which will be debuting this month. His tour will feature platinum artist Do or Die, gold group Crucial Conflict, Psycho Drama and Shawnna. Twista explained recently that “…on one level, it’s all of the homies. On another level, it’s a lot of the artists from the West Side of Chicago. On another level, it’s a lot of artists from my particular era and we don’t usually get together and do a lot of stuff like this. But every time we do, we have a ball and everybody kills it. They all bring a fierce delivery when they do their thing.” So as we wait to see his jaw-dropping concert, be sure to bump “TONITE” on all speakers near you.
