UPDATE: The official line-up was Woodstock’s 50th anniversary has been revealed — and boy is it massive. Check it out below.
When I think of Woodstock, I think of two things: the iconic event that took place in 1969, and the MTV-covered, over-saturated advertisement fiasco that went down 30 years later. Now, it looks like the brand is in the works to revive the festival for its 50th anniversary, with Glastonbury-level news.
It’s being reported that Jay-Z and Chance The Rapper are joining the likes of Black Keys, Imagine Dragons, Run The Jewels and Pussy Riot has headliners for Woodstock 50, with others — including Halsey, Miley Cyrus and Janelle Monáe — said to be locking down their appearances.
“There’s always been lots of rumors around Woodstock. We have excellent partners and an incredible talent lineup of over 80 artists which will be announced within the next couple of weeks. We’re preparing a once in a lifetime event.” – Michael Lang
There’s also supposed to be two different Woodstocks happening this year: the actual brand created by Michael Lang which should be going down in Watkins Glen in New York, and another that’s expected to take place at the original site in Bethel. Two legendary acts, Santana and Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Planet, have been announced as acts as well…the former is reportedly said to be performing at both of the aforementioned locations.
