The 14 year old Phenom is back with the Recluse Mixtape!
This time, Mighty IV is here to hit us with a full project packed with diversified sounds, rhymes, and hooks. What ya’ll thought, lil homie was stuck in the 90’s? That is definitely not his M-O. Mighty remains full of ambition and drive, and his mission is to survive in this culture by keeping the art and integrity alive. (He even inspired me to make that last sentence rhyme, lol). Sincerely though, the kid categorically has a knack for rap, and he isn’t afraid of stepping outside of any box.
Here are several memorable tracks I’d like to highlight from Mighty IV’s Recluse Mixtape:
“Canine“(the intro), where he sets the vibe with a dope, modernized hook, over dynamic production and present- day flows. This should prompt you to listen to more from the kid without question.
“Martian” is a record where Mighty exhibits some more contemporary, trappy vibes, but still keeps it true, while letting ya’ll know how he get’s down in the studio. No bad vibes in his space. I love the fact that he isn’t incorporating or promoting the use of pharmaceutical nonsense and being young, wild, and intoxicated in his music.
Although the project was dope entirely, my last focal point is on my favorite joint “High for Hours“. On the previous release of his Platinum Plus remix video, I already knew Mighty had bars. Now on this record, he’s delivering a message correlative to Kendrick Lamar’s when he first approached the game, and a vibe relatable to J Cole, which happen to be two of his favorites. He’s letting ya’ll know ” ok you smoke fam, that’s cool, no disrespect, but my focus is on the music, and it isn’t a requirement for me”. “High for Hours” demonstrates Mighty’s song-writing capability, and being able to keep up with veteran emcees.
Overall, this is definitely a project to listen to, so you shouldn’t sleep. If he sounds this seasoned and ill at the age of 14, imagine how crazy his development and advancement will be in a few years, as he continues to grow and release music.
Give the project a full spin below, courtesy of us, here at RESPECT, and be sure to show the Mighty IV some love!
