The worst thing about heartbreak is the restlessness that comes out of it. Chicago’s R&B favorite Sonta, gets behind the wheel and drives the windy city streets in her new music video “2AM.” Throughout the visual, she is breaking down while singing lyrics that reveals all the thoughts and emotions coming at once. The song comes to a sudden stop when Sonta crashes her car but in reality, it was all just a dream.
“To me, 2AM represents the epitome of being in your feelings. It’s kind of just giving in to your emotions and just being honest with yourself.. in that moment. We often mask our emotions and that’s where I got the video treatment idea from because It’s based on a dream, which is really just women’s intuition. That dream was warning me, but of course I always give them the benefit of the doubt and that’s where my EP comes in, because it’s the real thing. ‘Hood Love Vol. One’ isn’t a dream. It’s the actual storyline.”
