Quality Control artist Jordan Hollywood has released his long-awaited project called FINALLY!. With so many set backs, Hollywood has “finally” came back and give us these vibes of quality music. We caught up with the hip-hop cat and talked about his relationship with Quality Control label, meaning of his album name, his relationship with Lil’ Baby and more.
RESPECT.: When did you realize that you had the voice to be an artist or a co-writer for French Montana and many more?
I write songs for many r&b artists. So for me by being a songwriter, I can lay down a track by referencing to it. By writing my own music, it has gotten me to where I am today.
RESPECT.: What is the meaning of your project, ‘FINALLY!,’ and why did you name it that?
I have been in the industry for over 10 years because of the situations I had gone through, in where, people telling me what to do and it lost my creative freedom. My situation and mindset had a lot to do with it. The fans have been waiting for a long time. The excitement in my life is I am able to shoot the visuals I want to do, record and mix higher quality work of music, and doing interviews with major platforms.
RESPECT.: Define RESPECT.
Treating someone by being loyal. Respect means a lot to me. It all shows with manners and being polite to others.
RESPECT.: How does it feel to be on an indie label?
With a major label, you know it is more corporate and by the book. Quality Control is hands-on and is risk takers in believing the artists, who are on the team, than the numbers of followers one may have. I have more freedom and also can do what I want by releasing quality music whenever and getting the majority of their input on certain things.
RESPECT.: How is your relationship with Lil’ Baby?
We are brothers. Baby has so much love to me since day one. Before Quality Control, he always has been around to support me, as an artist, and person. I was there and witnessed when he started making music from the jump until now. I have so much respect for him.
RESPECT.: Define in your own words what Quality Control is?
It is pretty self-explanatory. Quality doesn’t miss anything, as far as artists and music, visuals and styles. Every artist, on the label, has their own style and way on how they create and run things there. With handling themselves, most artists have their own vibe to release music to their fans.
RESPECT.: What do you want your fans to take away from the EP?
I want my fans to enjoy and listen to it. Many don’t know that I have recorded over 200 songs for this project. I want the listeners to appreciate and take the time to listen to the beats, lyrics and mixes and how talented I am as an artist.
