Dreamville artist Bas has been on a “milky” ride with the release of his 14-track album Milky Way. He states, “I wanted to find ground. Either finding and tethering yourself to the love that truly fulfills you. That is the only way it goes.” Bas has been on a journey with the label, ever since J. Cole signed him with the mixtape Last Winter. Many haven’t heard his story or capability as an artist until after the signage.
With the release of his visual to “Fragance,” the track stood out to where the fans needed one. The video was shot by Paul Trillo. The Queens native is set to kick off his 43-tour date Milky Way tour that starts on November 6 in New Orleans and will end in Nashville, Tennessee on February 24. Through the times, Bas has toured with Cole by progressing him as a performer and artist. With his flow and incomparable mindset, Bas is an artist that we can all relate in some form. With his 2016 release, Too High To Riot, there were many bangers that we had on repeat. The “Night Job” rapper had something to prove and that all took a toll with his new album.
The “Tribe” duo, Bas and Cole, gave us them island melodies for his first single off of this track, but there is no doubt about that these two infidelity rappers have coincided each other for the first time. You remember their track “My N***a Just Made Bail” off of the Last Winter album. There has always been an instant connection between the two, and they were bringing the island vibes to us. From then to now, every record of the two always gives us a story of what the meaning of Dreamville is.
Speaking on the new album, Bas shared, “This album is about finding ground. About not poisoning your own well. About finding and tethering yourself to the love that truly fulfills you. Love of self. Love of others. Lovers. Family. Friends. Fans. You’ve all given me all the affirmation I’ll ever need. That is the Milky Way. The only way to go.”
