Moody has been buzzing in the hip-hop scene with her latest visual to “WOP.” The blonde bombshell, stated in her interview with iLLANOiZE, has made an anthem to the ladies to dance in where Chicago women do when it’s time to have some fun. She sat down with us and talk about the trending dance and term of “WOP,” Chicago’s hip-hop scene and when she will release her upcoming EP.
RESPECT.: How did you get the name Moody?
I got the name Moody from my mommy at birth. She said, I came out mean mugging looking around, and I didn’t cry until hours later. She was like my baby “moody!” That’s my “Moody booty!” That’s where Moody came from and it fits me.
RESPECT.: When you came up with the dance, “WOP,” did you want to create the new trend for Chicago? What is your term of “WOP?”
I actually didn’t personally come up with the dance “WOP.” A lot of females “WOP” when they turn up in Chicago. I just came up with the song “WOP;” because I felt nobody had made a turn-up song for us to “WOP” to.
When I hear “WOP WOP DO YO SH*T” from one of my friends, I instantly get in the mood to turn up! It is just a Chicago thing that my era came up with.
RESPECT.: With your first single to now, what can you say is your most challenging thing? Explain.
The thing that irritates me the most is wanting to get my song out there for EVERYBODY to understand and trying to WOP lol.
RESPECT.: Do you think Chicago is the upcoming city in the hip-hop scene? Explain.
Chicago is definitely the upcoming city in the hip-hop game simply, because it’s time for us to shine for positive things now. Our city is mostly known for drugs, scamming and murder rates. You see Chance, Ye, and others back here in the city and uplifting each other because it’s time! Other cities been biting our style for too long and taking credit. It’s time for us to really show people how creative and raw Chicago people are! WE ARE DOPE!
RESPECT.: Define RESPECT.
RESPECT is when someone honors or accept a person beliefs, personal space, thoughts or ways and not downplay or belittle them for that. Also respect is when a person shows genuine compassion and honesty with another person. Loyalty is key to me and that plays a role. If a person respect you, they won’t do anything to embarrass or make you feel less of a person because of the respect they have for you.
RESPECT.: Who can you say inspires you to get started with your music career? Why?
There are a few inspirations by me making music and to strive so hard for it! First one of my favorite, who passed away, inspired me to start writing and making music from the beginning. I used to freestyle playfully, and he would say “you should do it fr g.” When he passed, I lost it all and ran to a pen and pad.
Secondly, by seeing my mother struggle and bust her a** to keep me happy without my father and even to keep our family together as the head of the house! I love and adore her so much. I owe her the world, and I have no choice but to give it to her. Lastly, I know for a fact, I am cut out to be amazing and big artist! I pray for the direction of success by trusting my faith.
RESPECT.: By having such a strong team behind you with a heavy song out, give us some inspirations as a female hip-hop artist in the game to all the upcoming ones.
I just want to say thank you to my team that supports and assists me by making my dreams come true and networking to get further ahead. To all the upcoming artist BE YOURSELF F*** WHAT ANY AND EVERYBODY DO! USE THE NEGATIVE AND TURN IT INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR YOU! ALSO, DON’T GIVE UP BECAUSE I CRIED A MILLION TIMES ABOUT WANTING TO GIVE UP BUT DON’T! ALWAYS REMEMBER WHY YOU’RE GOING SO HARD AND KEEP GOING!
RESPECT.: When is the next project going to release? What can we, as fans, expect from this project?
Well, my next project will be my EP’s. The first one will either be titled as ‘Ienyl’ or ‘Moody Tunezzz.’ Expect me to be honest and opening up to my fans in my music.
