When you think of the West Coast, artists like YG and Kendrick Lamar come to mind immediately. But the West is back again with a new flavor, and his name is DLRN (pronounced Da-lor-in). The Sacramento-based rapper/songwriter is the newest face of California’s rap scene, entering with his new single “Just Be Chillin.”
This single is DLRN’s life philosophy. In the lyrics to this danceable track, DLRN plays the lowkey observer, taking in life’s extremes without killing the vibe: I’m on some west coast s***, just hanging / Middle fingers up for everybody that be hatin / I’m feelin like the one if you ever seen the Matrix / Turn into Liam Neeson if she tell me that she taken.
Odd Future affiliate Casey Veggies and Kanye West collaborator Cyhi The Prynce have worked with DLRN on a previous mixtape, and now the artist is prepping to release his first major-label project. We’re looking forward to seeing what else comes from this talented west coast artist!
