Former athlete-turned-rapper Al B. Fresh announced plans today to launch a nationwide awareness campaign to stop inequality and racism in the United States and promote against many oppressive laws directed towards the African American community.
Al B. Fresh will be kicking off the campaign by releasing his new Single “Free” along with a t-shirt line displaying the “Free” logo in front, to raise awareness as well as funds that will further educate youth in these communities.
The rising artist, who has been featured in popular hip-hop blogs such as ThisIs50 and IAmhiphop magazine, will be releasing a music video for his Single “Free” to help bring in momentum for the movement. The video is controversial and contains deep symbolic imagery that is sure to shed light on ongoing issues from a different perspective.
The controversial video will target the self-hate phenomenon growing amongst African Americans and show how repressive laws and action can keep the community captive.
“Not only does “FREE” contain a powerful message, but it’s also something you can bob your head to ” says Al B. Fresh.
He plans to introduce the clothing under the same name “Free” to further advance the promotion of the cause for the African American community. The hip hop star will donate $5 from each purpose of a t-shirt to go directly to youth programs that help lead the future generation in the right direction. “This is not just style. It’s Style with a purpose”, says Fresh.
“After being mistreated and hated for so long, we forgot how to love. I think the self-hate among our communities also keeps us mentally enslaved,” comments Al B. Fresh about his new awareness campaign, adding, “This campaign is sure to make a huge difference not only in the community but the Country”
