RESPECT.: Where are you from?
Mississippi. I grew up in a small town and I had big dreams. I worked hard and you know hard work pays off! I’ve been doing big things and I’ve been grinding.
RESPECT.: Did you always want to be in the music industry?
Yes, I’ve always wanted to be in the music industry. Since I was a kid.
RESPECT.: You are featured on Rae Sremmurd’s latest album on a song called “Juggling Biddies.” How has life changed for you since being on the album?
It opened up more doors for shows and I get a lot more exposure.
RESPECT.: Your record “Trap House” featuring Lil Baby. How did that come about?
I just got out of jail and I was trying to put a song together. I was trying to get the world’s attention again because I had a song with Rae Sremmurd and I got locked up during the songs peak. I was just trying to figure out how I can get the world’s attention again so I made the song. And I was listening to it trying to figure out what kind of collab I can put on it and I just kept seeing Lil Baby’s voice on it so I just went with him. I didn’t even know Lil Baby personally I just knew him by his music. The industry world is a very small world. I had a friend that engineers and his name is Mark. He knew this guy named DJ Cut Throat which is Ralo’s DJ. Ralo and Baby already had a song called Pakistan and I was telling mark I was trying to have a song with Lil baby. He said my boy Cut Throat DJ’s in Atlanta and he knows all these guys so he can hook you up with Lil Baby. We got in touch with Cut Throat and he said yeah I am going to call his people to see what’s up. He called back and said Baby will do a verse for you and I was like bet. I was with it because I wanted to do something big and I believed in my own career.
RESPECT.: I didn’t expect that you had this entire journey behind Trap House!
And I am signed to Rae Sremmurd so I was really trying to get attention from my label again. I had a big song then I went to jail. Slim Jxmmi had a birthday party and I pulled him to the side and told him I got this song with Baby. I was really pretending because I just wanted to see his reaction. I just wanted to make sure before I made the move everything is going to be straight. I was just trying to run it by him because you know Slim is CEO of SremmLife Crew. I can just see how anxious he was to hear it and I was like I have to put the plan together. So, I put it together and I played it over facetime. So he was listening then Baby came in and he told me to stop the song. He said bro you just put a major play together. Then he said yeah bro I’m behind you 100% you don’t know what you just did.
RESPECT.: Sounds a lot like perfect timing.
Yes, everything came out the way I wanted it to come out and the numbers are going crazy.
RESPECT.: What can we expect from you next?
I have a project on the way called Trap Melodies. Also, I want people to know when I said Trap House I wasn’t talking about in the kitchen with a stove. Everything can be a Trap House. Like if you go to work every morning it is your Trap House. If you rap and you have to build a studio in it that’s your Trap House. If you’re making ends meet from your house it is your Trap House. It doesn’t matter where you at or what you do every day you have to grind to get better.
