Georgia’s very own Extravagent has caught and kept our attention since release of his single “Lose You.” In the 3 minute track he keeps it real with his listeners throughout the heartfelt single. We recently caught up with him to speak on the track and the music video. Additionally, we honestly wanted to get to know the being behind the record. Check out the interview below and stream the track.
RESPECT.: Hey Extravagent, please tell us about yourself.
I’m extravagant I’m from South Georgia and I’ve been doing music for a minute. I went to school at Tuskegee University. I went there and got out of school now I’m back on my grind with this music sh*t trying to get it.
RESPECT.: When and why did you write your single “Lose You?”
I wrote lose you probably at the end of 2017 last year. My partner sent me the track and the melody lost me and it’s so touching. What inspired me to write it is everything I been going through. I think right now was the perfect time to drop it with all the things going on. Especially because there’s a lot of black brothers getting killed. I dropped it in June and there was something about that date that made me feel like it was the perfect time. It gives people a great look into what to expect from my upcoming body of work.
RESPECT.: Tell us about the making of its music video
We shot it on the east side Atlanta. Decatur to be exact. It’s kind of like I’m showing you two sides of the world and I am explaining to the viewer that there is good that come out the evil.
RESPECT.: What do you hope to accomplish within the next few years and what’s the name of your project on the way?
My music will be meaningful all the time. My project will be called Working While I’m Working. I always had to think about what I had to do to provide or set an example in the midst of going through the bad times. Throughout everything I always had the pen and paper to share my thoughts and feelings. I’ve been working on this for a long time so people will get to see all sides of Extravagent.
