Joe Moses recently came back from the ‘Don’t Judge Me’ tour as an opener for Ty Dolla $ign. The Los Angeles native is coming back with a new album, SuWop, that will release this Friday, June 1 everywhere. We recently caught up with the “Back Going Brazy” rapper and talked about his experience on the ‘Don’t Judge Me’ tour, his previous record deal with Atlantic Records/THE MVMNT, and his upcoming album.
RESPECT.: With your hit single, “Back Going Brazy,” what was it like behind the scenes?
The vibes are crazy! No cap! Believe it or not, it was filmed across the street from my granny house. There was no drama or anything.
RESPECT.: Describe your experience on the ‘Don’t Judge Me’ tour.
It was a great experience. I have been on the road with him four times; and I’m blessed to go from city to city. By selling out every show, I was able to build things with friends and that is a blessing.
RESPECT.: Earlier in the year, you have announced your record deal with Atlantic Records/THE MVMNT, what was your reaction to it? Did you think that this was a move that you were ready to do, ever since, you consider Ty as family and hopped on previous 2015 album, Free TC, records?
I am proud of myself over the situations I have overcame. I have been putting on for my family since day one. With my creative thoughts, I have a different type of vibe. It is more of a signed artist will look at.
RESPECT.: By being in THE MVMNT/Atlantic Records label, what has been your biggest challenge thus far?
It is to stay focus and being hungry at all times. I have to set goals for myself day-by-day.
RESPECT.: Define THE MVMNT?
We create myths through all the artists, by how we moving. It is just the way of life.
RESPECT.: Tell us a little bit about the youth football chapter, LA Chiefs? What were your goals when creating the chapter?
My goals are to help inner city kids with insecurities as far as them not having male role models or fathers in the household. I feel having a celebrity uncle or father figure gives them the confidence to succeed.“
RESPECT.: Define RESPECT.
Go anywhere you want to go and be respected by anyone in the classy industry and or wealth. My career has been through a long journey and my name can tell from peers or enemy.
RESPECT.: What is next for you? What can we expect from the album?
I have a few records that are dropping in September. My new EP, SuWop, will release on June 1. It will be a different vibe and sound. You will be hearing a little bit of me singing. A record will be dropping this week.
For now peep his latest visual “16s” below.
