A bit of a backstory: Jay Park is a Korean-American talent who both dwells in Hip-Hop and K-Pop (the latter as part of the Korean boy band 2PM). At some point, Park left the group amidst some unfortunate controversy and returned to America (he’s from Seattle), eventually becoming the first Asian-American to sign to Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation. Having already released four solo projects, Park is now restarting his momentum with a new single titled “SOJU” (named after the popular drink), which features 2 Chainz and sees production from Woogie. He spoke on the track — said to be featured on next month’s EP release Ask ’Bout Me — to The FADER:
Hope everybody can appreciate the mixture of cultures and I hope y’all enjoy the SOJU MV. It was a learning experience for me, got introduced to the world of Korean culture and so much more.
