Moving around the East Coast before finally landing in ATL, rapper Jay5 began developing his sound while living in Virginia and subsequently Brooklyn, but perfected his craft and his flow in the South.
Adopting the Blood’s symbolic 5 to his name, Jay5 has close ties to Blood gang and street culture after being forced into a life on the streets at an early age. But Jay5’s music is much more than just trap music infused with gang culture, he’s really a tied into some of the most popular artists in Hip-Hop today.
“I really didn’t want to rap when I got out of prison, but I used to be up at QC with the Migos where everyone else was rapping so it just came naturally,” Jay5 explained.
