Dreamville artist J.I.D has been building his fanbase steadily, dropping The Never Story, touring with J. Cole and obliterating instrumentals with rewind-worthy freestyles. Now, he delivers an animated visual for “EdEddnEddy,” named after — and inspired by — the classic Cartoon Network show. As he explains (source):
We wanted to do something special for this release because this show meant a lot to me growing up… We recreated this cartoon and made it for my people, in the month of February, on some history type s*** and partnered with a major TV network for release [Adult Swim], but legal s*** took over the vision of the art. All type of lawyers had to clear s*** which would have took forever so f*** it, we can create this moment without em for now.
