This is for real: Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith has revealed that Kendrick Lamar will be holding down executive production duties for the forthcoming Black Panther soundtrack (sleuthing eyes caught a tease of this in Kendrick’s “LOVE.” visual). Kendrick also spoke on the move in a press release:
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director… The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside [director Ryan Coogler] and Marvel’s vision.
First, K. Dot blesses the masses with a track from the forthcoming compilation (or project?) titled “All The Stars,” which features fellow TDE artist SZA, which successfully blends their two styles together. That’s available for streaming above.
Black Panther and its accompanying soundtrack drops February 16th (Apple seems to have the soundtrack dropping a week earlier, so we shall see). Hopefully, we’ll include the other members of TDE as well.
