Prior to the now-release of Paranoia 2, Dave East had been on a consistent run. Coming off his most recent project Karma (with DJ Holiday) and his
remix Eastmix of Lil Pump‘s “Gucci Gang” (re-titled as “You The Same”), East had some time while being on the road to bless us with “On God.” Now comes the sequel to last Summer’s Paranoia; not only is this new material for the consumers who follow and appreciate him as an artist, but it’s also a statement that real rap is back. Never being anything less than outstanding as an artist, East makes it hard to top his own content.
With production by Jahlil Beats and Nick Paps, they let it be known that two heads are better than one. Their production sets the ambiance right, allowing East to flex on every track and leave his mark as one of Harlem’s finest. The 15-track project has features from Tory Lanez, Pimp Pimp P, T.I., Lloyd Banks, Bino Rideax, Matt Patterson, Marsha Ambrosius. Just from the look of the tracklist, it’s safe to say that 2018 is starting off on a high note.
East has been climbing to the top, having been given the freedom to create as he pleases. Having grown up in Harlem, East carries his struggles from the past and expresses it through his music. His vivid-yet-gutter flow has such an authenticity to it that it’s almost impossible to find anywhere else. Making sure that his penchant for being the best is known by everyone else around him, East has a habit of leaving a scent of fear in the air for his fellow peers and competitors.
