When it comes to Arizona, the state isn’t traditionally known as a hotbed for Hip-Hop talent. Granted, artists like Injury Reserve, Lil’ Qwerty and Flow Simpson have started to knock down those negative connotations of the state, the fact that the aforementioned artists are more melodic than demanding in today’s face-tatt climate definitely puts the state in a specific lane. That lane is one that AZ native CkFree refused to take on his hard hitting new single, “Wake Up!” possibly creating the rebellious spark the the state needs to push forward.
Set to the tone of stout production provided by Speaker Bangerz, CkFree puts the game on notice while letting his affinity for his home state be known. The young rapper also gives a slight nod to his past as a standout football player, while also parlaying It with his current occupation with the lines, “Play after play I could of made the NFL/ Moving all them weights and now a nigga sore as hell, put some ice on me but that ice ain’t gon’ melt.”
Check out, “Wake Up!” below and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for CkFree.
