There’s no limit on the music and artistry of 27-year-old Detroit native Brielle Lesley.
Lesley, a classically trained singer (studying the greatness of the late Whitney Houston, Beyoncé and Brandy), refuses to be put in a box. After spending roughly twenty-three minutes on the phone interviewing Brielle, I can honestly say she’s on her way to becoming the talk of the town.
Relying on traditional R&B sounds along with other genres such as urban pop, Lesley earns a name for herself.
Check out her song “As Long As” where she sings about the ride-or-die type of love we secretly wish for. The video’s pretty dope too! Check it out here.
“I want to be the star that people used to love,” Brielle exclaims as her ultimate goal in music. In this social media age, so many gimmicky personalities overshadow the real talent—yet she’s right to claim her spot as the next music star. However, Brielle is no stranger to displaying her other styles with songs such as “Karma” that hit one million streams on Soundcloud. Additionally, “As Long As” landed on Complex‘s “10 Dope Songs You Should Be Hearing.”
After soaking in both tracks, there’s obvious contrast between her bravado on “As Long As” versus Karma‘s softer side. Regarding the mood change between tracks, Brielle says, “Certain songs call for a forceful deliverance.”
These tracks appear on her In The Moment EP which dropped late last month. According to Lesley, the title stems from both the good and bad times of a relationship. Each song evokes a different vibe which can be felt in the moment. Although the music she creates is an integral part of her life, she nearly walked away from it due to lack of support from her previous relationship.
Rihanna, Rick Ross, YFN Lucci, and Rick Ross are some of her dream collabs.
Overall, Brielle is very humble and such a sweetheart ready for what is to come.
Fun fact, she’s a foodie that compares her love of food greater than her need for air.
