With a name like Lil St. Louis, one may think it came about due to a pride of one’s city, but quite frankly, it is the total opposite. Lil STL, who lived in Alabama until the tender age of 5, said kids in the area just couldn’t pronounce his government name, Sedale.
“Living down in Alabama, as a kid, the people didn’t even want to say my name,” Lil STL tells RESPECT Mag.
“I guess it was hard to say, so they were calling me by the name of my city. So, I just stuck with it when I came back to St. Louis, Missouri.”
In early July, Lil STL released a video for a single called, “Whitney & Bobby,” which keyed in on drug trafficking and many things that occurred on the streets.

“It’s a hustling song,” he said. “I really named it “Whitney & Bobby” because it came from a male and female aspect of the hustle. I can relate to both.”
Lil STL has toured with rapper 2Chainz in 2015 and opened up for rapper Yo Gotti shortly after. He described both experiences as ‘humbling and fun.’
“We were in about 42 cities, it was a long tour,” said Lil STL on touring with 2Chainz.
In addition to collaborating with artists like Yo Gotti and St. Lunatics members Nelly, Murphy Lee, Chingy and more STL has individually released four mixtapes with DJ Holiday (M.D.G), Swamp Izzo, DJ Smallz (Young n Reckless), DJ Bigga Rankin (MDGDAMOB).
His fifth mixtape, MDGDAMOB2, is forthcoming.
Lil STL had a producing background before zeroing in on rapping. His dream list of emcees to collaborate with are Migos, Future, Dave East, Casanova, and Fetty Wap. While he’s impressed with their growth and stature, he insits that he’n not looking to fit in, but in fact, stand out. “I want my own lane,” he said. “They gotta fit in with me. You know what I’m saying?”
Lil STL’s “Whitney & Bobby” record is currently on rotation on BET Network. Additionally, the video has garnered 36,000 views on YouTube.
With his growing buzz, he wants his fans to only know one thing: “You can’t spell hustle around me without the STL.”
